Frame-based approach to lexical typology.

2013. №2, 3-31

Abstract:

The article discusses the principles for systematic cross-linguistic studies in lexical semantics, which could provide a framework for large-scale comparative analyses in a great number of languages. It is claimed that typological regularities can be revealed by examining the lexical combinability and contextual restrictions on words under comparison. The article generalizes the experience of using this approach to several semantic domains (aqua-motion, rotation, pain verbs, adjectives of quality, and others).
